75 Years of Excellence...Celebrating Dr. Eugene B. Redmond: November 28 at 12:00pm until November 30 at 9:00pm
Fans and friends of renowned poet and educator Dr. Eugene B. Redmond are invited to join us in a community-wide celebration of his 75th birthday. There are four days of festivities planned to honor this priceless artist and his works, beginning Wed., Nov. 28th and ending with a private party on his day of birth, Sat., Dec. 1st. We warmly welcome you to come and attend 0ne or more of the public events. Gifts to the Eugene B. Redmond Learning Center and Resource Room are encouraged. Donations can be made via check/money order to the “Drumvoices Revue/EBR Center” and sent to: Drumvoices Revue, SIUE Dept. of English, #1431, Edwardsville, IL 62026-1431. Those donating $50 or more will receive a complimentary copy of Dr. Redmond’s new book, “Arkansippi Memwars: 1962-2012, Poetry, Prose, and Chants”.
Redmond, Poet Laureate of East St. Louis for 35 years, is a Professor Emeritus of English at SIUE. He is the author of several dozen books, plays, and journals and has achieved great literary acclaim, including the prestigious American Book Award in 1993 and 2012. - Panel of Writers discuss the Kwansaba: Charlois Lumpkin, Darlene Roy, and Jeffrey Skoblow. There will also be poetry and spoken word performances by myself, other club members, and SIUE Students.
